Country Kitchen

The kitchen wing of the farmhouse was built in the mid 1770’s and originally served as a general store. The rest of the house was added later, in the early 1800’s. The two ceiling cross-beams were discovered when the kitchen was renovated and the ceiling height was raised from 7' to the current 9 foot height. The kitchen floor has 7'', 9'' and 11'' wide pine tongue and groove boards, and there is a gas fireplace in the far corner that provides the room with warmth and beauty.
The fixture over the kitchen table utilized a combination of low voltage and wax bulb shades to mimic the candle light appearance of the 1770's. The seven windows on the south wall provide an expansive view to be enjoyed while dining or relaxing near the gas fireplace.
