Country Kitchen   The kitchen wing of the farmhouse was built in the mid 1770’s and originally served as a general store.  The rest of the house was added later, in the early 1800’s.  The two ceiling cross-beams were discovered when the kitchen was renovated and the ceiling height was raised from 7' to the current 9 foot height. The kitchen floor has 7'', 9'' and 11'' wide pine tongue and groove boards, and there is a gas fireplace in the far corner that provides the room with warmth and beauty.

History of the Inn In 1776 Dr. Elkanah Hodges lived in his home on nearby Hodges Hill Road and located his general store here at Mount Pleasant in what is now the kitchen wing of the farmhouse.  This was the only part of the farmhouse that existed at that time, and the rest of the farmhouse was built later in the mid 1800's. The Deming family purchased the property in the early 1900’s and ran it as a dairy farm for 80 years.

The Inn at Mount Pleasant is a bed and breakfast located in Litchfield County, Torrington CT.  It has been completely remodeled to offer modern amenities while still retaining the original charm of the 18th century farmhouse.

The common areas of the Inn include a large country kitchen with dining area, sitting area and fireplace, and a separate living room with television.

You will find the guest rooms at the Inn both peaceful and private.   Each of the four rooms offers a queen bed, private, attached bathroom, and air conditioning.

While staying at the Inn, guests have complete access to the property, including hiking and mountain biking trails to Nickel Brook Creek, an outdoor grill and large deck, hammock, outdoor fire pit for campfires, and a practice golf hole for chipping.  Pet friendly accommodations are available on a limited basis - please inquire.
